Ultimate season complete

Our team finished up the season yesterday with Boys A and Girls States. Thanks to everyone for hanging in there in what was a difficult season weather-wise. Hoping next spring will be a little drier so we can get out for more practices and games.

From Maine Ultimate:
YCC Tryouts will be Monday June 3rd at Wainwright starting at 6:00. Please plan to start arriving after 5:30 so you're ready to go at 6:00. Please share this will all players potentially interested in playing on the U17 Boys, U20 Boys, U20 Girls and U20 Mixed teams. Anyone on our team interested in this should check in with Rich today, since you will be away on trips this week and unable to attend tryouts tomorrow night.

The High School side of summer league Ultimate will be starting on June 12th! This is not through the school but is available to those players interested in playing more ultimate! More info on all that is found HERE.

Boys A and Girls States tomorrow

~ Updated Friday, May 31 @ 11:30am ~

Tomorrow we will be playing in Boys A and Girls States at the New Gloucester Fairgrounds. This is a one day only tournament and the full schedule can be found HERE - we are teams 9 on the Boys side and team 7 for Girls.

Our game schedules are:
Boys - First game at 8:30. Next game at either 10:30 or 12:30, depending on the outcome of the first game, then the final game will begin at either 2:30 or 3:00, again depending on results. Boys should arrive by 7:45.
Girls - First game at 10:30. Next game at 12:30 and/or 3:00, depending on the outcome of the first game. Girls should arrive no later than 9:45, but are definitely welcome and encouraged to come and cheer on the boys in the 8:30 game.

Parents are more than welcome and definitely encouraged to come to all the games. It is a fun time and the players really appreciate having fans on hand.

We will have the big blue school tent set-up somewhere.  Do bring the usual supplies:
  • BOTH YOUR BLUE AND YOUR WHITE TEAM SHIRT
  • Shorts
  • Some warm clothes
  • Water
  • Food (see below)
  • Cleats
  • Sunscreen
Since the games are relatively nearby, the school is not providing transportation and everyone will need to arrange their own transportation and/or carpool.

Just like last week, there will be some hearty snacks at our tent (thank you Dana for organizing!) and there will also be grilled hot dogs, hamburgers and veggie burgers for sale.

Good luck and have fun!
---------------------------------

From the event organizers:

There will be a brief awards ceremony after each finals (with pictures taken).

SPECTATORS: Will be asked to remain on the end-lines on all fields instead of on the sidelines for player safety reasons. Tents, chairs and gear should all be left on the end-lines. Please keep your sidelines clear of everything except coaches, players and water bottles.

There will be food available for sale at the fields thanks again to the UMaine Men's team grilling burgers, dogs, etc. If that doesn't work for you, the New Gloucester Village Store (owned by an Ultimate player) is only 2.5 miles from the fields and is wonderful!

There will be States discs and some Ultimate swag (hopefully) available for sale.

We will have (more) port-a-potties and water available onsite.

There are conflicting forecasts for Saturday, but with luck, we should be okay. One forecast does mention the chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon, so we'll stay vigilant on that and will be ready to delay games if necessary.

No games today

Wainwright is too wet, so today's games have been cancelled. Rich suggests a team run or a run on your own. Next up is practice on Friday and Boys A and Girls States on Saturday in New Gloucester.

Games this week are 3:30 only

Note that that this week we have two games at 3:30 and no late games, so all players will be done at Wainwright by 5:00.

There will be some hearty snacks at our tent (parents should have received a food email on Thursday - thank you Dana!) and we also hear there will be a one food truck and also someone grilling (selling hot dogs, hamburgers and veggie burgers).

Wishing a fun day to all!

---------------------------------

From the event organizers:We need help with parking in the morning! So we're asking each team to volunteer one person to help with parking for a half hour or so in the morning. This is just as folks are arriving that we need the help. Please send your parking volunteer to tourney central in the morning!

The schedule is self-explanatory so please read it carefully! Teams in 5-team pool play games to 11 (1 timeout/half, no floaters). Teams in 4-team pools play games to 13 (1 timeout/half + a floater).

We will be collecting spirit scores and team photos, please help us out here!

There will be a brief awards ceremony after each finals (with pictures taken).

SPECTATORS: will be asked to remain on the endlines instead of on the sidelines. The same goes for tents, chairs and gear. For player safety reasons, please keep your sidelines clear of everything except coaches, players and water bottles.

There will be food available for sale at the fields (at least one food truck along with a team working a grill). The New Gloucester Village Store (owned by an Ultimate player) is awesome and is only 2.5 miles from the fields too!

There will be discs and Ultimate swag available for sale.

We will have port-a-potties and water onsite.

Parking will be tight, (see note above) but we MUST keep the dirt road into and out of the Fairgrounds clear for emergency vehicles.

The current forecast looks good with clouds and light winds slowly increasing through the day and temps in the upper 60's to low 70's. Woo hoo!

Food organizer needed for upcoming tournaments

Attn: parents:

We have a set of games this coming Saturday for Boys B and Mixed States, and another set of games the following Saturday (Girls and Boys A) and need a parent to step up to organize food/snacks for each of those days. Your job would be to think about what food you'd like to have on hand on game day (fruit, bagels, pb&j, cookies, brownies, etc.), create a google spreadsheet for sign-ups and get the word out so people can sign-up for food they will bring. It can be a different person for each tournament.

Please let Susan know if you will be one of these lucky parent organizers. Thanks!
